THE RIVER

The nights were growing colder

As twilight was a ghost

growing stronger every day

And the memories of autumn were

fragments on the water

Just drifting away

I feel you grieving

Cos I held a loss in my soul

You’re not alone when

The twists and turns of life take their toll

Feel your heartache cry away

And let your tears flow

To where dreams are made

Cry your sorrow, cry your pain,

Swim with the river

Til the shadows fade

The silence was uneasy

It never released me, it shadowed my heart

So I listened to the river, I saw it turn silver

and shine out though the dark

You see it shining?

Maybe it’s clouded from view

But there’s a lining

Mirroring the goodness in you

Feel your heartache cry away

And let your tears flow

To where dreams are made

Cry your sorrow, cry your pain,

Swim with the river

Til the shadows fade

And you’ll bathe in golden sunlight

Soft golden light

Under a waterfall

In a mist of summer sunrise

Swim with the river

Just let it be your guide
